Whole Foods Pulls All Kombucha Products … #595

www.therenegadehealthshow.com – Just last week, Whole Foods Market announced that it has removed all Kombucha products from it’s shelves… The cited alcohol content of up to 3-4% in some products (this is just as much as some beers!). Over the weekend, I contacted our friend Steve Dickman co-founder of High Country Kombucha to get the story straight form him. Steve’s products are the highest quality around and wanted to know what his thoughts were on the alcohol content and how and when Kombucha will be back on the shelves. Take a look (and please pass this along to all your kombucha drinking friends!)…

to push the 365 brand they own, after they have eliminated products I have used for years and love. I tell all employees about this, and refuse to buy their brand. Starting to head over to Trader Joes for some items, and of course local farmers markets when available.

Google….Organic Bytes, and there is an article about Whole Foods threatening to no longer carry two small companies, if they continued to support this group exposing their dirty practices. Also…the dark side of Whole Foods. Interestingly, I have a photograph of a Whole Foods Market sign, with Chemtrails shooting across the sky behind it. Reminds me of the crown of the Statue of Liberty. Whole Foods is taking over, putting companies out of bussiness, and they train their employees…

@TheRawFoodMommy well go to GT Kombucha’s FB page, it’s all there. She is been drinking Kombucha for a long time even before she had the bracelet.

  4. TheRawFoodMommy says:

@Iluvsciences LOL to you. you believe anything that girl tweets? first of all I saw it on TMZ that she had be billed for another bracelet going off, she has photos of herself with the drink.. and a couple of days later all the kombuchas were be called back.

  5. Iluvsciences says:

but why don’t you talk about making it ourselves instead? I don’t buy those, should I be worried about MY homemade kombucha?

  6. Iluvsciences says:

@TheRawFoodMommy LOL!!! that’s not true!!! even herself, she said her on her twitter acct.

  7. CafeHolistic says:

Get the low down at Cafe Holistic dot com

  8. Healthspire says:

So put it in the alcohol section of the store.

  9. 12quillemall5321 says:

Ask LiLo’s SCRAM if it contains alcohol.

It’s ridiculous to pull all the Kombucha! Put up a sign, prominently displayed, on the Kombucha shelf that says “alcohol content varies by (this) amount”! I started a Mother of my own just in time but nobody told me that honey is counter productive to the growth environment ) – ; So luckily I found a bottle tucked behind the pickles, beyond last years fruit cake and to the left of the mayonnaise, don’t drink 4 or 5 a day, 1 is enough and you don’t have to have it every day, try twice a week!

I’ve been saying this for a while. I’m of age and don’t consume alcohol. I drank Kombucha on occasion last year medicinally to calm my stomach and always felt warm and tipsy afterward. I stopped drinking it due to the high sugar content.

i always get a huge reaction, but i attribute it to the niacin B2, flushing me out, i am not a drinker i am 21 and i rarely if ever drink alcohol and when i do its tiny so i may not know. I may feel it more than others, i get euphoric after wards some times, but that also can be attributed by the fact that it is loaded with amino acids.

  13. RawGreenLiving says:

I remember feeling slightly buzzed after drinking one Kombucha. Now I know why.

  14. Zippypo says:

Wow cut off the phone call before it’s done.
I don’t drink alcohol so no Kombucha ever for me.

  15. alekasattic23 says:

I don’t think it has a lot of alcohol. If I drink one beer I feel the need to have more and more…an obvious addiction to the alcohol. If I stop after just one beer I get a terrible headache. Ive been drinking kombucha for years and never have more than one and when I’m done there is no headache, or comedown or any feeling suggesting what I drank was bad for me. Paul Nieson or whatever his name is, is really starting to bug me…just sayin’

  16. gautrytube says:

Well this goes to prove that we should focus on eating whole foods, and less to NO prepackaged foods!

  17. bonzaibb12 says:

@butterflie2484 I think Trader Joes is the lessor of the two evils. They are not ideal but they do listen to there customers more, offer better prices and have great customer service .

  18. TheRawFoodMommy says:

I know how it happened.. Lindsay Lohan’s bracelet was turned on, and she said it was the kombucha. I saw it on TMZ like 4 or some days ago.

  19. TreachMarkets says:

I noticed that after 3 or 4 kombuchas I become much cooler and more interesting, and the women around me become much more attractive. Do you think it’s the alcohol?

  20. lekcm1 says:

wow this explains so much, I thought I had an allergy to kombucha because it made me feel instantly drunk and caused a migraine…. I thought I was the only one who felt like that after drinking it!

  21. Tornerose83 says:

I got a bad headache after drinking it, like I do when I drink alcohol, so even though I suspsected it had been fermented alittle too long, I thought the headache-symptoms was just detox so I kept drinking it…
But I decided I couldn’t live with the headache no matter how good it was for me in the long run…. So I’m glad it finally comes to the attention of people that it contains alcohol.

  22. strangebee says:

@butterflie2484 Yep, more and more this world is becoming one big Wal-Mart.

  23. butterflie2484 says:

Whole foods in NOT about selling healthy food, its about liability. More and more they are becoming like McDonalds.

  24. Vegirobin says:

My own kombucha that I brew makes me buzz. I just thought it was because I never ever drink alcohol.

  25. cc0ldt says:

I work at whole foods and we get to drink the kombuchas in the back (for FREEEE!!! ). And yes, some of them have become very strong and wonderful. After trying the full-fermented kombuchas I think that a good kombucha will have over 0.5% alcohol. The taste becomes much stronger. Also, the summer weather causes kombuchas to ferment more. Bacterial activity is higher when temperature is higher (up to a point).
